Ensenada Here We Come

living.boondockingmexico@yahoo.com

Tomorrow morning at 3:15 a.m. we will be up and having coffee as we get ready to fly to Ensenada.  Being frugal comes with a price.   Our flight leaves at 6:15 a.m. but because we aren't documenting any luggage we can be there 35 minutes before take-off.

There is a weight limit on VivaAerobus.  10kgs for total carry on.  As you pass to the gates there is a highly regulated weigh-in station where they check your carry on and personal bag such as a purse or a laptop.  We weighed today and I had to change from my favorite carryon to a nylon bag but it works just as well.  We were lucky and got aisle seats across from each other on both trips.

We found a great Airbnb.  There were a few near or on the beach but they weren't very nice.  They were clean and modern but as beach places usually go, they have to be sand friendly so that means austere, tile and no rugs or carpeting, etc. and usually meant for party groups.   We're not near the beach but we do have a rooftop terrace and you can see the water from there.   Most importantly is a king-size bed and a nice kitchen.  Here is a collage of the place we are renting.

At $41 U.S. per night, it seems like a good deal.  We can take a daily walk to the beach which will be about 30 minutes and there is public transportation as well as Uber.   Sue and Brian said that the wineries are a must-see and I hope we can do it on a short week.  We can be pretty lazy on trips like this.

We arrive in Tijuana after 7 a.m. and will take the travel bus from the airport to Ensenada.  We can't check in right away so we will go to the Historic Museum down by the wharf where the cruise ships come in.  It is a short 2 km from the bus station to the museum.

The best part is that the skies will be blue, and the temps 25C daytime and 18C at night.  That makes for a nice dinner out along the beach for my birthday.  Oops!

More as we go along.
