Wow, what a fun weekend. We went to McAllen on Friday to return a computer we bought and pick up some things for the pool and the rv. Spent the night at Drury Suites but the day didn't start out that well. As you know, Trump has moved border agents around leaving many popular crossings with only one or two lanes open. Our wait at the bridge was two hours, not as bad as our trip during Semana Santa.
Made it to the hotel around 1 p.m. and first things first. We returned the computer at Best Buy, stopped by Walmart to check some prices and then headed back for a well-deserved nap. Drury has a happy hour so we had drinks first and then walked next door to the Olive Garden for dinner. We spent about thirty minutes at the bar chatting it up with the bartender. He graduated from one of the high schools I would give the ACT/SAT courses. He said he took the course but I doubt it was with me. Our waitress, Jovita, was the best. We had a glass of wine and split a pasta dish. More than enough food for two and we still had a doggie bag. Saturday morning, breakfast included, more running around and then heading home.
Sunday morning we went to a breakfast wedding. A first for me. Friends, Brenda and Mario, have been together for 12 years and finally tied the knot. It was the best wedding ever, no loud music, no alcohol or craziness, just a fun time spent with friends. We were there for four hours, witnessed the civil wedding with the judge, breakfast buffet and catching up.
Now it's time to start getting things ready for our six week trip to Pátzcuaro. We will be taking care of a ranch while the owners return to Vancouver for summer break. Not much to take other than electronics and clothes.
We leave on Friday and our first stop is San Miguel de Allende to visit our friend Barbara and relax for the weekend and then Sunday on to the ranch. This will be something different as I won't be driving a tractor or cutting grass, etc. which I did in Hacienda Contreras. That was a great experience. Not sure how this one will be. The ranch has workers and we are there to take care of the dogs and let the horses in and out in the morning and evening. I'm hoping they will let me ride the horses although it's been a long time since I've done it.
So get ready for six weeks exploring Pátzcuaro and the surrounding areas.
Don't forget to pack your sombrero y botas de vaquero😉 have fun!
