When it's not raining the hummingbirds are out and about. This guy now has two little ones but they are so fast it is hard to get a good shot.
It's September and the rains are here. It hasn't stopped now for ten days. The rains start between 5 and 7 p.m. and they are downpours. I've been busying reviewing my course for Texas and making my reservations for El Paso. I will have to fly there and back three times in two weeks. I'm not in control of the air, hotel and car reservations so I can't choose my airline so I may not get the points I want. We have quite a few to use up and I'm afraid if we don't use them this year we will loose them. We were big Continental flyers for years and earn points on trips to South America. Continental's miles never expired. But now that they are United, they tell us they will go away within a year.
I 'm anxious to get to McAllen and do some things on the rv. I may go next week and putter around there before taking the rv up to San Antonio. I have one course in Seguin and I should take advantage of it.
I'm getting new gas shocks for the truck today. I want to put Airlift air bags on the back. They aren't expensive. I've got a heavy tongue, it doesn't present a problem when towing but it isn't quite as level as I would like it. Feedback on air bags?
Airbags? I've known a few in my day. ;)
ReplyDeleteAs far as airbags on vehicles, the old MH had them on the front but to tell the truth, since they were there when I bought the rig, I never noticed them.
I know nothing about airbags... I do know it's rained a hell of a lot here... (Farmington, NM)... that's about all folks talk about when you go to the store. Streets flooded... (flash floods) stuff like that. I do know that we lost a ton of air miles because we used to fly some airline that merged/went bankrupt/whatever... I am glad we gave my son a bunch of those miles and his trip to Ireland a few years ago cost only $40 (tax). So... I'm no help with much of anything... unless you want to hear about the 2" of rain here ;-)
ReplyDeleteChris, we have had air bags on Mr. Truck since 2006. Had them put on at CW. It has been a great help in leveling the 5W. No real problems. I have the built-in compressor, but we use ours a lot as you know.
ReplyDeleteCroft, I have known a few in my lifetime too :)
ReplyDeleteSharon, how's the rain?
Bill, thanks for the reply, I asked the question on rv.net and someone responded that it wouldn't be a good idea when pulling a travel trailer but he never said why. It's not an expensive venture and if it doesn't do what I want, I've only lost a little. That said, I think it will do what I want.
They are great, they will increase your loAd carrying and leveling they are made by Firestone the compressor with cab control is best.
ReplyDeleteI don't recomend air bags there is a cheaper way to go and less frustrating they are a solid ring I can't remember the name of them but any rv dealer will know what I'm talking about. They only connect when you are towing then release themselves when not in use, you don't have to keep checking the air pressure. When I worked with an rv dealer we soled more of these than air bags.
ReplyDeleteChris look into United dividend dining. You get United miles for using a credit card when you eat certain places. I did it in El Paso and couple other places and have joined just for the very reason you did to keep miles alive on United and others by having a accreative mileage activity.
ReplyDeleteLook at these.

Air bags DO NOT enable you to increase the vehicles load carrying ability. The GVWR remains the same.
